Work is underway at the iconic, Darling Downs museum, the Jondaryan Woolshed to showcase the evolution of the Australian wool and sheep industry in a new exhibit.

Jondaryan Woolshed General Manager, Rebecca Pope said that stage one of the project has been completed, with the impressive 498m2 purpose built shed constructed onsite.

“We are now entering stage two of the project which involves curating the historically significant exhibit,” said Ms Pope.

“The Australian Wool Story exhibit, will showcase the Hugh Tindall Heritage Collection along with other prized shearing artefacts owned by the Jondaryan Woolshed.”

The Hugh Tindall Heritage Collection was purchased by the Jondaryan Woolshed in 2003 and encapsulates one man’s affinity to preserve and share iconic Australian history.

Hugh Tindall is a former sheep shearer, dingo trapper, horse breaker and station owner who has led an extraordinary shearing life across outback Australia.

“We are excited to be putting together an iconic collection of Australian history and memorabilia – one that will pay tribute to shearers and pioneers of the industry.”

The official opening of the impressive and historically significant collection is anticipated to take place at a future Heritage Festival. More details will be released in the coming months, once the Jondaryan Woolshed fully re-opens.

This project is funded in partnership with Toowoomba Regional Council and the Drought Communities Program and is an approved variation on the original funding application.
